Why Volunteer?
Here are some reasons:
• It's good for you! Volunteering provides physical and mental rewards.
• It saves resources - Volunteering provides valuable community services so more money can be spent on local services.
• Volunteers gain professional experience - You can test out a career.
• It brings people together - As a volunteer you assist in: Uniting people from diverse backgrounds to work toward a common goal and building camaraderie and teamwork.
• It promotes personal growth and self esteem - Understanding community needs helps foster empathy and self-efficacy.
• Volunteering strengthens your community - As a volunteer you help: Support families, Improve s lives, Support youth.
• You learn a lot - Volunteers learn things like hidden talents that may change your view on yourself worth, learn about the functions and operation of our government and the Center of Concern and the Community.
• You get a chance to give back - to support community resources that they use themselves or that benefit people they care about.
• Civic responsibility - Community service and volunteerism are an investment in our community and the people who live in it.

Volunteer Opportunities | Personnel Requirement |
---|---|
Meals on Wheels Drivers | Need at least 5-7 volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors 5 days a week |
Meal Site Assistant | At least 2-4 volunteers needed 5 days a week to serve food, deliver food to tables and clean up afterwards |
Friendly Callers | Number of volunteers needed is dependent on the number of seniors who would like to be called. Typically we need 4 |
SHIIP Volunteers | Goal is to have at least 3 SHIIP Volunteers throughout the year |
Assist with Special Events | Need a volunteer to help plan special events |
Activities | Need teachers for the following: arts and crafts, painting, writing and other topics if a teacher offers |
BINGO | Need a volunteer to set up, call BINGO and take care of game after |
Exercise Instructor | Need at least 1-2 volunteers to instruct exercise classes such as Zumba, Yoga, Walking Trails, or any other type of exercise instructor offers |

Health and Medical (Psychologists & Social Workers) | Alzheimer's Support Group, Grief and Loss Support Group Check blood pressure and glucose levels |
Income Tax (CPA Certified Public Accountants, bankers) | Prepare simple federal and state income tax returns for the tax season February 1st through April 15th |
Legal (Attorneys) | Prepare simple wills, durable powers of attorney for health care and property Medicare SHIIP Counselors, federally funded by the Senior Health Insurance Information Program |
